Hi Mike, there are no dumb questions, we were all beginners at some point. Just to be more clear, you are right that Saturday is 2 rounds, one at each course, separated by a lunch break. For Sunday, everyone in the tournament will have a designated tee time at the Optimist course. Starting at 7:30am with the Recreational division and going through all divisions until the top card of the pro men starting last, probably around noon or so. These specific tee times for each player will be posted Saturday night after the first 2 rounds are counted. One benefit to tee times is that the amateurs can finish their round and have time to go watch the pro's, with mostly everybody finishing at a reasonable time. So there will basically be one long round on Sunday, with everyone starting at different times.

Will there be any maps put out before this tournament that may have some hole tips? Unfortunately, I prob won't have a chance to get up there before but was hoping something may be uploaded/printed to sort of check out the course beforehand without being able to play/walk it.

Pessimist will be the same as last year. Optimist will be mostly the same but won't know until after the workday Saturday June 8th 8-noon with play in the afternoon.

If you have never played this tournament, it means nothing that it is the same (which I haven't). Is there a layout anywere online from last years tournament of Pessimist?

IF YOU HAVEN'T SECURED LODGING YET YOU BETTER DO IT ASAP THIS WEEKEND at the latest. the info is on the blog posted on the main page.

We are going to be working on the Optimist course this Saturday morning to bring in some new holes for HPC. Some of the local players will be helping so if you want a preview come out and help. 8 am - noon.

We are also working on course layouts and maps this weekend.

I am curious to why a 955 Rated player is signed up for Intermediate Division as PDGA states:

Intermediate - available to amateur players of all ages with player ratings < 935. Developing players who have played 2-3 years with improved consistency and accuracy. Throw 250-350 feet, make 5-7/10 putts from 20 feet. Score range: <63

I look forward to the challenge but is this a new definition of Bagger??? or unless this person was inadvertently put in wrong division....

My guess is that this person signed up Int. before they were rated 955 and was not sure. He only has one event to provide ratings so that could explain why. You are correct that anyone over 935 cannot play MA2. John should fix this and talk to the player.

How about next time you contact the TD directly? You'll likely get a quicker and more accurate answer. As a general rule, don't assume TD's check the forums as often as they check their email ;)

I'll second that and add that most TD's are not checking player ratings as each person signs up. The PDGA will send the TD a list of players and their ratings about a week prior to the event to verify divisions. Other players tend to be more "up" on these things than the TDs, and I know I appreciate having these things brought directly to my attention so that they may be resolved with the player.

Hey John,

Thanks for all your work on getting the courses ready. Will there be a map out soon? I am trying to figure out what holes got cut out and what the new holes look like. Also, are there any changes at Pessimist? I really liked the Pessimist layout from last year.

If you are an Am player and on the wait list you should have already received anemail saying you could sign up for the HPC XI. You will have 24 hrs. from the time you received this notice.

we have moved all the Advanced master division Players into the Pro pool to allow more Am players to play in this event. This allows us to bring in more wait list players. once the 24 hr period is up we will open the remaining spot up on a first come basis.

We put up tee signs and yellow flagging on trees for fairway line OB marks on the Optimist Course, if you go out to play print out an aerial map to show the new layout.
